August 25th, 1782
Sir:
In answer to your letter of the 24th of August, we now inform you that you are not to marry Mr. Jacob Cohen to Mrs. Mordecai. Neither are you to be present at the wedding and you are hereby strictly forbid to mention said Cohen or his wife's name in any respect whatsoever in the synagogue.
