General Order

“On account of the scarcity of Provisions all Cotton Speculators, Jews, and other Vagrants, having no honest means to support except trading up the misery of the country, and in general all persons from the North, not connected with the army whatever and having no permission from the commanding General to remain in town, will leave in twenty- four (24) hours or he will be put to duty in the intrenchments.”
